March 30, 1969 — The Santa Clarita Valley's second 24-hour, midcentury modern Denny's Restaurant holds its grand opening celebration at 16401 Delone Street, adjacent to the northbound on-ramp to the Antelope Valley 14 Freeway at Sand Canyon.

Cutting the ribbon in the first and fourth photos are (from left): Hank Heyming, restaurant manager; Sam Thompson, president, Canyon Country Chamber of Commerce; Shelia Deaeney [sic], waitress; and Jim Schaefer, president, Schaefer Land Company (The Signal, 4/7/1969).
