Piru oil lease, 1912-1913. Photographic prints that had been glued into a now-anonymous photo album. We don't know which lease this was. There were several oil company names in the Piru area at the dawn of the 20th Century. Nor do we know who the people are. One man is identified as "Papa." The others are either "visitors" or "regulars." Coupled with the fact that the photos span (at least) two years and were made with different cameras, the evidence suggests "Papa" is the leaseholder. LW3368a — No description. Oil derricks and outbuildings in canyon. 4.25x3.5 inches. LW3368b — Piru 1913 / Visitors. Men and automobile in front of wooden derrick and shack. 4x4 inches. LW3368c — 1912 Piru. Derrick and associated structures, possible warehouse, arroyo. 4x4 inches. LW3368d — 1913 / Visitors & regulars on lease at Piru. Probably a water tank behind them. Perhaps the "x" denotes "Papa?" 4x3.5 inches. LW3368e — 1913 / Papa and some visitors. 4x4 inches. LW3368f — No description. Oil derrick with tents (possibly communal residences for oil workers). 3x2.5 inches. LW3368g — 1912 / Piru. A few of the Piru valley showing row crops. 4x4 inches.
