Indian Graveyard Believed Uncovered in Saugus Area.

Saugus — Workmen, who last week found three skeletons while digging a trench for a pipeline near here, may have uncovered a major Indian burial ground a college professor believes.

Roger Robinson, a professor of anthropology at Antelope Valley College, said he will begin the excavation on the ground where a total of eight skeletons have been found as soon as he is granted permission from the owners of the property,

The workmen found three at the site at Green Valley about 25 miles west of Lancaster. Later, five more skeletons were discovered.

The skeletons, which are believed to be some 200 years old, appeared to have been buried in sitting positions with their legs drawn up. Others were found lying on their sides.

Robinson said one of the skeletons was identified as a female in her 20s.
