Our local teens have received national recognition for community service and leadership. Their signature event is the
annual Haunted Jailhouse, staged at our local Sheriff's Station. This community-wide event attracts over 5,000 people and
provides a safe, fun Halloween experience for Santa Clarita families. Regional and National Keystone Conferences broaden
horizons and help develop young leaders.
LEADERS IN TRAINING (L.I.T.) - Leaders in Training is a develop-

These programs seek to develop fitness, positive use of leisure time, skills
for stress management, appreciation for the environment and social skills.
The Club sponsors leagues in basketball, softball, soccer, arena hockey, flag
football and other sports with an emphasis on teamwork, fair play and effort.
Other activities include volleyball, whiffle ball, and radical relays. Activities
in our games room area include the annual Pinewood Derby, daily ping-pong,
pool, air hockey and foosball. Special tournaments for all age and skill levels
are conducted. (supported by Kaiser Permanente)
These programs develop young people's capacity to engage in positive
behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and live suc-
cessfully as self-sufficient adults. In addition to specialized programs, infor-
mal counseling sessions occur as needed and referrals are made in circum-
stances when specialized counseling is needed.
SMART GIRLS and PASSPORT TO MANHOOD groups address criti- PASSP □ TT□
cal health and lifestyle issues with an emphasis on avoiding drugs, alcohol,
tobacco and teen pregnancy. Discussions on responsible conflict resolution, MANHOOD
healthy dietary choices, handling peer pressure and cooking classes help
prepare young people for healthy, productive lives as adults.
