(Silent)

Stock footage of Saugus Junction, late 1940s. (Saugus Junction was the name of the intersection of today's Magic Mountain Parkway and Bouquet Canyon Road.)

The view is to the north-northwest. The Southern Pacific Railroad's Saugus depot is at the cinematographer's back.

A tow truck turns into Wood’s Garage at left. The Saugus Café is just out of frame at far left, although part of the awning of the 1925 Saugus Café building is visible. An older model car (Model A Ford?) makes the curve, coming eastbound on the Saugus-Ventura Road (Highway 126, now Magic Mountain Parkway) and continuing south onto Bouquet/San Fernando Road (now called Railroad Avenue).

A Southern Pacific cab forward passes by the SPRR Saugus depot without stopping. Baggage cars are followed by a mail car, where somebody grabs the mail pouch. That is followed by passenger cars.

We’re estimating late 1940s for this film clip because it comes from a reel with other (unrelated, non-SCV) clips that are clearly 1940s, and the Southern Pacific started painting the lower front portion of its cab-forward locomotives silver in 1946.
