Julio J. Castellanos

Julio Castellanos was born on May 27, 1939 in Havana, Cuba. For the last 16 years, he resided in Valencia, California with his soul mate, Janet.

In Julio's colorful life, there were many travels all over the world. He enjoyed spending time with his family, pool time, BBQing, writing, reading and playing the guitar. He also enjoyed good food and a good bottle of Cabernet. He was an avid snow skier and loved his getaways to his cabin in the mountains.

Julio was a loving husband and a dedicated and involved father and grandfather.

He is survived by his beautiful wife, Janet; his loving children, Julio, Miguel, Luly and Carolina; his eleven beloved grandchildren; his siblings, Ana, Conchita and Carlos; his "American" family, Karen, Glenn, Chris, Mark and his dog, Sammy.

Julio died peacefully in his home with his wife and family by his side on Friday, August 16, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

We honor his life by remembering his love and pride in his family, his knowledge of world events and enthusiasm for debating them, and the pleasure he took in even the simplest of family gatherings. We are grateful for our connection to a life that was lived with grace and integrity ... and we will always remember Julio with love.
