insulation of the ceiling and floors will cost $650. The walls would be much harder and more
expensive because they would have to be sprayed. He said that the remaining roof money should
cover the cost. Laurene West McCarthy asked that Paul explore the possibilities of double panes
in the windows. Paul also announced that Bouquet Canyon Schist for retaining walls has been
donated and that flagstones will be sold at a discount, if not donated. Flagstones would go near
the chapel and the adobe. Lath for the Newhall Ranch House is planned to go on with the help of
the Rotary Club. The cost of materials will be covered by a FEMA Grant. It has been extended in
time and Paul also found that the full $18,000 will be given. He estimates that the exterior wall
insulation will be about $400 and ceiling and floor insulation will cost about $600. This might
also be covered by FEMA.

It was reported that the docent training is in progress and very well attended. Pictures of
0 the recent field trip to Camulos were passed around the room.
Laurene moved that each board member be required to docent one day each quarter to see
first hand how the docent work is going.

Cowboy Poetry Festival Tour--Carol Rock
0 The tour will start at 12th St. and travel through such sights as Beal' s Cut, the Saugus
Speedway and others, ending with Melody Ranch. It will be held April 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00
noon. At least four docents will be needed. Carol also passed around a sign up for bartending at
the event. There will be 3 sites.
Olde Towne Days--
Paul Kreutzer reported that the Civil War Group wants to do 2-3 skirmishes each on
Saturday and Sunday, but the problem of the expense of a fire marshall continues. Tom Frew
will call the V aluzats to ask how they handle the situation. Richard Smykle distributed a report
suggesting that we not schedule the event and that we start looking for a professional fundraiser
to lead this activity. After much discussion it was decided to continue to plan for the event, for
L one day only. This would preclude having the Civil War Encampment. Laurene West McCarthy
f; Friends of Hart for their list of vendors. A date for March 8, 1997 at 9:00 a.m. was decided for a
