SANTA CLARITA VALLEY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Minutes of meeting of December 17, 1996

Meeting called to order by President Carol Rock in her home at 7:35 p.m. Quorum was present -
C-attached sign in sheet.

Secretary's Report - Glen Rollins moved that the minutes from the November meeting be
approved a5 written. Laurene Weste seconded. Motion passed.

Correspondence - Letters were received from the following:
1. Elsmere ElR participant letter from the Dept. of Agriculture.
2. Christmas cards from Newhall Hardware and Joanne Darcy.
3. Change of address notification from insurance company.
4. Golden State Printing thank you note.
5. Heritage Square Museum in Los Angeles.
6. Insurance notice by County of Los Angeles - renewal
7. Zonta's "Status of Women' " celebration.
8. various newsletter ( Carol passed around for board members).
9. Misc. bills
10. Donation of $100
11. Peter and Joanne Law donation of $100 for engine restoration.

Treasurer's report - Pat Saletore moved that treasurer's report by filed for audit. Laurene
Weste seconded.
Fiscal year ends June 30, 1996 and an internal audit is being conducted.

Personnel update - no news.

Engine 1629 update - A boxcar and tank car will be delivered on Wednesday December 19,
1996. Letter will be written to Mike Vitale requesting insurance coverage with in seven days
with a copy to board of directors.
Laurene Weste moved to write letter to Kevin O'Neal to removed railroad cars or provide
insurance. Glen Rollins seconded. Discussion fol1owcd. Laurene withdrew her motion.

Membership- Caroi reminded board to encourage new membership. 135 renewals as of this
date.

Olde Towne Days - Scheduled for April 25, 1997 only. Activities for Heritage Junction and a
Civil Wan re-enactment will be only activities for the day. Other Olde Towne Days activities
are: Antique Fair in August. Autumn Dance in the fall and a Christmas Fair to be held on Dec.
12 through the 14. Discussion followed. Any decisions will be tabled to next meeting after
elections ..

Pardee Roof - East side completed. Porch should be finished by weekend. Paul K. requested
