This proj.ect·was in its final stages when it was,decided to
put.it on hold. · ·
The letters from the landowners were received, but they were
· not as enthusiastic in the~ statements of permission or main-:
tenance. of the •lte in its original state as was needed for
acceptance by the California State Landmarks Commission •.
The explanation of this was becausE1 ·of a lit.1gatlon in process.
A :factor· . ·. developed, and thanks '.to our local newspaper's .
cooperation in clearing up the ownership of the lllarker monuments
.. located at Beals Cut pull-off. this was resolved· in the,:favor of
one· of the .landownere;.. and further communication with them .will
be undertaken. · ·

All necessary '1e.tters were ·written, l.etters were received
and the research material given :t.o .another organization. This
was done prior to.the ~omation of our local Historical Society¾
and so there was a discussion on joint cooperation with another
Historical Society. · These·matters of priorities and cooperation
can and should be di:scussed i:f the new letters of' permis1:2don are
more favorable as this project is ready to proceed, except for
filling out the.form.
