Newhall, Calif. March 14, 1923.

    Regular meeting of the Newhall Chamber of Commerce called to order in Hap-a-lan Hall at 8 o'clock P.M. by President Swall.
    Thirty eight present.
    Minutes of previous meeting read and approved.
    Committee on Stationery and Seal reported not having arrived at anything definite, but that there would be a report made at next meeting.
    Committee on Membership Drive reported splendid results, the total membership having been raised to fifty-nine.
    Resolution passed that the Secretary be instructed to write a letter to Mr. H. Clay Needham expressing to him the very great appreciation that the members of the Newhall Chamber of Commerce feel towards him for what he has done for this community and extending their sympathy in his present hour of illness.
    Mrs. A.L. McMannus was welcomed to membership in our organization.
    The committee of election reported 48 votes cast and the following nominated — J.W. Harker, Fred Lamkin, Bob Anderson, W.J. Purrucker, A.H. Wilkie, J.W. Doty, T.M. Frew Jr., W.H. McMannus, R.R. Carr and J.S. Pilcher.
    Mr. McMannus spoke for a few minutes pledging his hearty support to any movement for the betterment of our community.
    After considerable discussion over the contemplated raise in water rates, the meeting adjourned to 8 o'clock P.M. March 28th in Hap-a-lan Hall.
